Kids Advent Calendar: Day 22

This is the 22nd day in my new kids advent calendar, An Experiment to RememberWe're using Christmas science activities to teach about Jesus!

Kids Advent Calendar

Lesson 22: Forgiveness Changes Us

Supplies
* tall cup or mason jar
* raw, uncooked egg
* salt
* spoon for stirring

Step by Step Experiment:

1- Fill your cup with water and set the egg in it. The egg should sink. If not, use a different egg.

2- Remove the egg and add 2 spoonfuls of salt. Stir well. Does the egg float?

3- Repeat Step 2 until the egg floats.

The Life of Jesus:

"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."  -Matthew 6:14-15

Jesus taught us to forgive. Forgiveness changes our lives, just like adding salt changes the water.

Whom can you forgive?

Science Explanation:

Eggs do not normally float because they are more dense than water. When you add salt, you change the water's density--it becomes more dense. When you make the salt water more dense than the egg, the egg will float.

This is the lesson for Day 22 (of 25) in An Experiment to Remember, a kids advent calendar that uses science object lessons to discuss the life and teachings of Jesus.
