License Plate Game {FREE}

If you have any road trips coming up, you will want to print off a few of these free license plate game boards!

When I was a kid we used to play a license plate game where we would look for plates from another state and, when we found one, punch a sibling while shouting the state we had just spotted! At the time I thought it was a great diversion to boring drives though, as a mom now, I can see why it might have bugged my parents!

Luckily, I have this very awesome, not-violent license plate game for y'all! And, as a fun bonus, it has the shape of each state as well!

When we moved from Houston to the D.C. area, my best friend's family drove with us. Yes, they accompanied us for more than 1300 miles across the country. It was quite the caravan: our moving truck, their rental car, and my van (which my friend actually drove because I was nine months pregnant)! I seriously cannot overstate how amazing they are to have done that with us!

Anyway, the reason I bring them up, is because my friend's husband has the habit of keeping a checklist with his kids of license plates they see. When I saw the list, they had seen all but two. (By the time we finished, they had them all!)

So, I  am delighted to share this license plate game with everyone here! Just like my friend, there is a checkbox for every state. And, like I mentioned above, you can also see the state shape next to the name--this is great for kids who might still be learning the states (or adults, lol)! Also, the states are alphabetized, so you can use the printout as a script for cheesy state songs from your childhood!

You can print off a couple for long road trips, or just keep a few in your glove box--there is no rule that says you must be on a long roadtrip to play! You can totally look for different license plates when you run errands too! Actually, we've noticed a HUGE variety of states represented in the D.C. area, especially when we go into town!

And if you have a favorite license plate game, be sure to let me know! I'd love to hear what other families do as they drive around!
